Thank you to everyone who has expressed concern and a willingness to help with the damage to Marcy Field. Insurance is not covering the damage, so we are ready to proceed with some work.
Monday July 24th at 10 am we are going to begin temporary repairs to the field and runway. We would like to invite anyone who is available to come and help replace turf and do some raking. These temporary repairs will allow events like the summer concert series, capture the flag, and Kitefest to proceed. Due to the weather and the busy Ironman weekend, I don’t think we can schedule this any sooner.
The temporary repairs will allow us to get through the busy schedule of summer events at the field without any further disruption. The temporary repairs will also give us time to plan for long term, permanent work to restore the field. Because of the busy schedule of events, we can’t really start long term work until there is uninterrupted time for work to take place and grass to grow back.
