The Town of Keene is seeking contractor bids for three open town facility upgrade and renovation projects. Please review, complete, and submit any of the attached forms to Town Hall if interested. Keene’s new Norton Brook Cemetery – including a Natural, or Green Burial section, is opening May 1, 2024. The new town-run cemetery is near the bottom of Spruce Hill, the corner of Rts. 9N and 73. It is next to the town’s original Norton Cemetery, where the first burial was in 1838. That cemetery is essentially full, and is now closed except for those families that have already contracted for burials there. Marcy Field is a great spot to view the eclipse with plenty of room to spread out, and it’s free to the public! General parking is located at the hiker shuttle parking lot on Airport Road Those with limited mobility will be allowed to park closer to the main field at the Holt House lot on Route 73 Attendants will be on hand to help direct traffic Portable toilet facilities will be available, but no additional services will be provided With substantial snowfall expected in the region this week, please prepare for wet and muddy conditions.
The town has taken the following steps to help manage the expected traffic on Eclipse Day. No one knows exactly what the weather will be, or how many people will pass through Keene or stop to view the eclipse here, so we have tried to prepare as fully as possible. Starting today, March 6th, the DOT is installing temporary signals on Route 73 between Chapel Pond and Roaring Brook falls for emergency slope repairs. The signals will be there 24-7 for an estimated 3 weeks. The road will not be closed. It will be open to one-way alternating traffic.
